In 1972 CNW acquired 13 ex. MKT EMD repowered AS16s from locomotive dealer Precision National
An additional unit (MKT 1496) may have been acquired for parts [3]
All had been repowered by EMD with 1500hp 16-567C engines, 1958-1960
