Southern Pacific S-12's

The first BLW S-12's on the Espee were "plain jane' units. They were delivered in a batch of 22 units numbered 1442-1463. These units were not equipped for MU operation and had short side handrails and numberboards just forward of the cab. Three units were delivered to the T&NO as 105-107.

The second batch of S-12's were delivered in a batch of another 22 units numbered 1492-1513. These units had short side handrails no MU connections and were equipped with signal lights in a large housing. Numberboards were just in front of the cab.
Two more S-12's were diverted from the SP becoming T&NO 121-122. These two were to have been SP 1498 & 1505 part of the second batch.

The Third batch was delivered in a batch of 12 units numbered 1539-1550. These units were "Deluxe" being equipped as road units with full side handrails, numberboards, signal lights as the second batch, MU connections and class lights.
