DE LA VERGNE (Continued from Page 22) injection Diesel units, one of 1100 H. P. and two of 550 H. P., were sold late in 1919. The earlier types served their purpose, but by further research and continuous experiments, a far more simple method of direct injection was developed, having all the advantages of the com- plex air injection engine, but without its compli- cations. Since 1919, De La Vergne has built only Diesel engines without air compressors because the de- mand for this simple, reliable type of engine has become firmly established. In the forty-three years of oil engine manufacture De La Vergne has built engines for practically every application where oil engines are adaptable, and the name of De La Vergne is one of the most highly respected in the industry. |
